Season 5 showcased more of Shireen than had been seen previously, which was obviously some fairly horrible foreshadowing, but it also meant a few great moments for the character. One of these was in a talk to her father at Castle Black, as he tells of how she got greyscale from a Dornish doll he bought for her, his efforts to save her, and that she was his daughter and he loved her. It was pretty much the first time that Stannis was shown to be more than just a cold, ruthless leader, one that fleshed out his character more and also made his ultimate decision to sacrifice his daughter all the more heartbreaking.
