Game Of Thrones: 11 Characters Who Will Probably Survive Until The End

Despite playing the Game of Thrones, these guys might neither win nor die.

It's well-established by now that death is one of the biggest aspects of Game of Thrones (Valar Morghulis and all that). It comes for man, woman, child, and beast alike, both good and evil, and is one of the only certainties of the series.

The show has gradually narrowed down its mammoth cast over the years, and that's going to continue apace as the series nears its endgame. Only two seasons and 13 episodes remain, which means no matter how much you yell "not today", the God of Death will be on its way.

Season 7, which is teasing the Great War, will likely contain a number of casualties, something that's only going to ramp up once the White Walkers eventually arrive in Westeros. Some will survive into Season 8, but will surely fall as the series comes it its bittersweet ending.

And yet, whether the world ends in fire or in ice, some characters will - even against the odds - survive the Game of Thrones, though they might not necessarily see it as 'winning'.

Why She'll Survive

She's already outlived her son and grandchildren, and there's plenty of reason to believe Olenna will outlast most others on the show too. She is, quite clearly, a survivor, and the best player of the game this side of Tywin Lannister.

Crucially, she knows how to back the right horse. After Renly was defeated, the Tyrells switched allegiance to the Lannisters. Now she's backing Daenerys Targaryen, and heck, she'd probably side with the White Walkers if necessary. We've seen multiple kings die on the show, and now Cersei and Dany battling over the Iron Throne, yet still the Queen of Thorns reigns on. Plus it'd mean killing off Diana Rigg, which is surely a no-no.

Why She Might Not

For a start, Lady Olenna is one of the oldest people still alive that we know of in Westeros, and thus is more likely to die soon - not that old age is the most common cause of death. Then there's the fact that, while she'll no doubt prove a key advisor to Daenerys, she may not have too much of a part to play in the final battle, which could be less 'strategy' and more 'holy sh*t dragons'.
