Does R+C=G?

This week, Game of Thrones gave us something a lot of fans have been wanting for a long time: Arya and Gendry getting together.

While the scene in question has proved divisive over how it, er, went down, there's no denying that it's a big moment for both characters, but could it also have an even greater significance with regards to the entire endgame of the series? In the very first episode of the show, Robert Baratheon wanted to join his house with Ned Stark's, and this scene does that in a fashion, albeit not one ol' Bobby B would've had in mind.

Might this be more than a Stark sleeping with a Baratheon bastard though? One long-running fan theory is the idea that Gendry, who didn't know his mother, is actually Cersei's son, who she gave up at birth, either because she didn't want to raise Robert's child, or, because of Maggy's prophecy, simply believed she needed to have children with golden hair instead.

The Arya and Gendry scene brings this into greater focus and pertinence, because then it's the Stark girl having sex with someone with a very strong claim to the Iron Throne. But could it really be true?
