Daenerys wasn't happy with his arrival at Winterfell, but the living need soldiers, and so Jaime will fight at Winterfell, under the command of Ser Brienne of Tarth.
He isn't the warrior he used to be, having never quite mastered fighting with his left hand (they should've really bad Gendry forge him a new hand that holds a sword), but he's competent enough for wights at least.
What matters more is his arc, and his journey to redemption. Can that really end when Cersei isn't around? There'd be something poetic in him saving Bran or Brienne, but nothing as fitting as his death being intertwined with Cersei's downfall. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is one of the five biggest paid actors on the show, i.e one of its five main stars, so you'd expect him to last until the finale.
