Whilst Game of Thrones has thus far refrained from flashbacks, season five will see this change. Reportedly the opening scene will feature a flashback, though quite what will be glimpsed remains to be seen. Many thought wed see more of Tywin Lannister given that Charles Dance will be returning, but his appearance has now been confirmed to be that of a corpse only. So what will viewers be seeing? Fans and actors alike (including Sean Bean himself) have been vying for the return of Ned Stark since he lost his head back in season one and a return of this character could help in two ways. Firstly it could be a flashback with significance to one of his children (though given how quickly Bran, Sansa and Arya are growing it would probably be near impossible to achieve this), or else the wrath of Ned and Robert Baratheon could be glimpsed. What will likely occur in the flashback will be a significant event from Cerseis past; Maggy the Frog, a fortune teller whom Cersei met as a girl has shaped the woman Cersei becomes. She made three predictions, first predicting that Cerseis friend Melara would die the same night she made the predictions; secondly that Cersei would marry the king but that a younger, more beautiful queen would see her downfall. Read further on this list to see how this one unfolds, but its safe to say that this prediction likewise comes true. And finally Maggy decreed that Cersei would outlive her three children and die at the hands of the valonqar, a High Valyrian word for little brother. Cersei has thus far seen one of her three children die, and Tyrion certainly has murderous tendencies towards his own family. It remains to be seen whether this prediction will come to fruition.
