Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Book Of The Stranger'

"We make peace with our enemies, not our friends."

For an episode titled Book of the Stranger, there were a lot of familial reunions this week on Game of Thrones. In fact, there was also death, political scheming, and a huge ending, meaning that there was very little strange here at all.

Instead what we got was a familiar Thrones episode, and also an excellent one.

The table setting continues, of course, but it's really starting to gain momentum in some places, and it looks like we're heading for the finest of banquets.

The main focuses of the episode were in the North, King's Landing, and Vaes Dothrak, with brief sojourns to the Iron Islands, Meereen, and the Vale (welcome back, Lord Baelish; f**k off, Lord Arryn).

A couple of major characters reunited, there were further hints at "the wars to come", a few more characters met their end, and there was a great set-piece for the episode's climax.

Not everything in the episode worked entirely well, with a couple of missteps, including one of those aforementioned deaths, and a story arc that seemed at least a little bit pointless.

The rest of it rated from good to great though, and the show is building up a head of steam ahead of, well, the wars to come. Season 6 is getting firmly into the swing of things now, and he's what was good (and what wasn't) from Book of the Stranger.
