Obviously, Sam hasn't told his father (or his siblings, presumably) that he's now hooked up with a wildling, breaking his oath to the Night's Watch and simultaneously ruining the image of his family in one fell swoop.

That's probably why this dinner scene looks so tense...

And there's Tarly Senior, played by James Faulkner, who immediately looks like a bad apple, and who will presumably not e accepting Sam's forbidden love quite as easily as Sam wants him to.
