After what has felt like years of emptiness - punctuated only by the latest sightings of a living and breathing Jon Snow on the set - Game Of Thrones has returned with a bang thanks to the exceptional, emotionally charged first full trailer for season 6. The hype train is back on course, defiantly emblazoned with a mind-scorching, heart-wrenching shot of Jon Snow lying dead with a halo of blood, and it's safe to say you can almost taste the levels of excitement in the air. Inevitably the trailer is going to be poured over and analysed in intricate detail for any hints that Snow will live on, as well as for fans seeking answers to the hundreds of other questions for Westeros warring families. Will Arya learn to see again? Is Stannis really dead? Did Sansa survive the drop? Has Hodor broadened his vocabulary? Does anyone even remember Rickon? Obviously the trailer couldn't answer them all, or indeed show off every character (new or old), so there's no sighting of Ian McShane or Max Von Sydow, and Bron, Varys and the little Tarly family are all absent. But there's still enough in there that the short teaser is positively bursting at the seams. Hold tight for an extensive breakdown of the season 6 trailer...
34. Dead Is Dead
Way to open old wounds, HBO. That image is now iconic, having inspired an ocean of theories and rumours in the break between seasons, but it still hasn't lost any of its capacity for emotional devastation. And just to reinforce the message, we get Ser Davos in voice over confirming "he's gone". Heart-breaking stuff, but let's all hope it's not the end of the road for Jon Snow. It can't be, right? RIGHT?!
