10. What Sam's Up To In Oldtown
Sam has been conspicuous by his absence in the Game of Thrones Season 7 trailers. While the majority of main characters are accounted for, we've seen little of Sam and Gilly outside of a couple of promo shots.
We know he is training as to become a Maester, and yet there's no real chance for that to actually happen. There's not enough time, for starters, and far more pressing concerns to address.
That means Sam's storyline is instead likely to involve discovering information directly related to the White Walkers, such as means of defeating them or how to create more Valyrian steel/dragonglass.
The biggest hint we've had so far from the marketing is the book Gilly is reading, which makes reference to Azor Ahai. But given how small Sam's part was in Season 6, his lack of prominence thus far doesn't bode well for that storyline this year either.
