Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Hints From "Eastwatch" Trailer

8. Friction Between Dany And Tyrion

HBO

Last episode we saw Dany first accuse Tyrion of being in cahoots with his family to undermine her campaign from the inside (there's no way she really believes it, it was probably more just lashing out) and then punish him by making him watch the battle (and the "death" of his brother).

In "Eastwatch", the schism between the two will open wider, with Dany's threat to the Lannister and Tarly forces visibly disgusting Tyrion. He's likely to be pretty haunted by the imagery from that battle (he's pretty much a living embodiment of George RR Martin's disdain for war and violence), and he recognises the problem of Dany going full dragon on her potential subjects.

That effect is going to be dangerously amplified when Dany makes a martyr of any of those Lannister allies too, which seems increasingly - horrifyingly - possible.

He almost noticeably winces when she takes her hardline stance.

There isn't just friction here, there's fear. Fear for her, fear for what she could become, fear for how she'll be seen. He might not be a particularly good Hand, but he absolutely still believes in her ultimate cause.
