4. Sansa Doesn't Need To Turn On Jon For Power

HBO

In the run up to the first episode's release, it was widely speculated that Sansa would turn on Jon Snow when he refused to listen to her and sidelined her authority in favour of his own. The end-goal to that would presumably have been Sansa seizing power, with Littlefinger's assist, in defiance of Jon, but that no longer needs to happen.

In handing over control of the North to Sansa in his absence, he's stopped her needing to rise up against him, even if it wasn't her initial intention. The question now is where this will lead.

Sansa again clashed with Jon on his intentions (believing him heading to Dragonstone was an error), with other vocal dissent coming from Yohn Royce and Lianna Mormont, and there's definitely scope for her to be influenced to make decisions that Jon wouldn't approve of. Particularly now that Littlefinger has nothing stopping him from powering more poisoned honey in her ear.

That image of Sansa immediately following Jon's transfer of power wasn't one of a confident leader, and that should be taken as a hint of possible troubled waters to come. Luckily, she won't be the only Stark in Winterfell soon, and there's no way her sister will take Littlefinger's bullsh*t kindly.
