Game Of Thrones Season 7 Implications: What "The Spoils Of War" Really Means
7. Tyrion's Plan Is Destroyed, But Jon Is Convincing
Dany was never going to react particularly well to the news that the Unsullied are all but defeated at Casterly Rock (at least if they try and hold it), and her furious reaction was to insist that she's done with "clever plans" and will be taking a far more active role in planning her conquest of Westeros. She spared Tyrion no venom too, castigating him for his failings and batting away his advice to simply call the Unsullied back and press ahead with cutting King's Landing off.
She was right to do so, because Tyrion's plan would not have worked: Cersei would have been able to hire the Golden Company to deal with the Dothraki while Euron's fleet would have dealt fairly simply with Dany's remaining ships. Her actual plan to attack Jaime was far more inspired.
Interestingly, there was also the faintest hint that Dany is suspicious of the Imp now because of his blood. It's unfair, but you can see why she'd think so, given how spectacular his failings have been so far.
And the scene basically also establishes that Dany recognises Jon as a great enough military leader to not only ask his advice, but to listen to it. Could that offer him some hope that she'll value his opinion about the need to head North soon?
