But they'll still be pretty epic.

Game of Thrones Season 8 is still a horribly long way off, but we do at least have an update on the coming episodes to keep us going a little while yet.

This time last year, HBO programming president Casey Bloys suggested that we could see the final six episodes each run to two hours in length, and we’ve heard repeatedly that they will be like feature movies.

Bloys, however, has slightly gone back on things in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. Although the episodes are still being edited, after filming recently finished, he was asked whether the episodes were more like 50-90 minutes in length and not two hours, to which he responded:

“Not two-hours? Yes, they are not going to be. Not that I’ve seen anyway.”

Two hours would be an incredibly long time for an episode of television, and beg the question of why not simply have more instalments. Season 7 finale The Dragon and the Wolf clocked in at around 80 minutes, so it’s likely the Season 6 episodes will be around that too.

Bloys also confirmed that Season 8 will air in the first-half of 2019, which isn’t surprising, and a return to its old April air date seems very likely.
