9. Jon Snow Becomes The Next Lord Commander Of The Night's Watch
You'd think that after helping to save the day and actually be largely responsible for Castle Black to still be under Crow control, there'd be some appreciation. You'd be wrong. There are many in the Night's Watch that still believe Jon Snow to be a traitor. They not only want him gone, but they want him dead. Jon's saving grace, at first, will be Stannis himself. At the suggestion of Melissandre, who's seen something important with regard to Jon in her fire, he helps Jon secure some sort of footing in the chaos of the Night's Watch. Stannis even goes so far as to offer Jon the surname of Stark and Winterfell as his own. Jon, noble to the end, politely refuses, citing his lifelong commitment he made to the Night's Watch. Jon's friends take it upon themselves to nominate and secure a win for Jon in the vote of who should be named the new Lord Commander, ushering in a period of progression and tumult.
