Last episode, the slaves of Meereen rebelled against their masters thanks to help from Daenerys. Now ruling over the city, Khaleesi and her council of advisors plot what to do next. After learning that Joffrey is dead, they speculate on whether storming Kings Landing with their troops (as well as the Meerneese Navy, which Daario has procured) could work. Jorah believes that just because they could take Kings Landing doesnt mean that Westeros would be as easy to take. He then informs her that Yunkai has been retaken by the Wise Masters, and the ruling council she left behind at Astapor has been overthrown by a butcher named Cleon. Daenerys asks everyone but Jorah to leave. She states that her liberation of Slavers Bay hasnt gone as expected, and Jorah says she could sail for Kings Landing if she wishes. She wisely questions how shell be able to control the Seven Kingdoms if Slavers Bay wont fall in line. Realising she has more work to do, she decides to stay in Meereen to be a better ruler. Daenerys has significantly developed since we first met her. Shes gone from being the scared girl following her brothers orders to liberating slaves across Slavers Bay and gaining more followers each day. However, she knows that shes not yet ready to effectively lead Westeros, especially given how her work in Yunkai and Astapor was not as permanent as she expected. She knows that she needs to learn how to rule a city and protect her subjects from retaliation before she aspires for the Seven Kingdoms. A good trait for a ruler to have is to know when theyre in over their head, and Daenerys knows that she needs to improve herself.
