Who would have thought that one day, one half of Robson and Jerome would be playing a foul-mouthed, hard-as-nails mercenary to universal acclaim? Everyone loves the character of Bronn and I doubt that anyone could play it as well as Jerome Flynn does. He provides comic relief but has also proven himself to be one of the most skilled fighters in Westeros. While he does appear in the pages of A Song of Ice and Fire his impact is significantly reduced and after the Battle of Blackwater he receives a knighthood and leaves Tyrion high and dry. Sure, the TV incarnation of the character is fuelled by monetary gain but he has also been given a more interesting presence by the writers. After reading the books I would not have thought to make more of the character but now he is one of my favourites on the show, and a good example of how successfully the material has been improved as well as adapted.
