Game Of Thrones Season 4 Trailer: 10 Things We Learned

For the night is dark, and full of spoilers...

By Brian Chapman /

The fourth season of Game of Thrones is nearly upon us. Shortly we shall return to the lands of Westeros and the area known as the Slaver's Bay in Essos (which for those of you who just watch the TV series, it's the place where Daenerys Targaryen is). We've been teased over the last few days with some clips on Vine, and a pre-trailer was posted a couple of days ago. But last night, the proper first trailer was placed on line €“ and importantly they've numbered it as #1. This means that presumably at some point, we're going to get a second trailer. In the short time since it went online just before 9pm EST last night, the trailer has already been viewed on YouTube quickly approaching ten million times. In fact, in the time it took to write this paragraph, some thirty thousand views took place. The new season will land on HBO on April 6th at 9pm, and then will be broadcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic the following day. Despite this I'm sure there will be plenty of illegal downloads of the episode seeing as within twenty hours of the season three finale, around a million people downloaded it. Game of Thrones is immensely popular, and that won't dull this season €“ because we have a lot of things to look forward to as I alluded to in my previous article. But up until now exactly what we can expect to see in the fourth season has been purely speculation and expectation built off the back of the books. But Song of Ice and Fire series goes on, the chronology gets more and more complicated with it being unclear exactly what is taking place at any one time. So while we expect season four to cover the second half of A Storm of Swords, certain castings have already taken place which indicate we'll see some of A Feast for Crows too. But before we get into that, here's the trailer that has just been posted: But what events can we glean from the new trailer? Well, let me tell you this straight away, if you don't want MASSIVE HONKING SPOILERS then stop reading this now. I won't hold back on the plot from the books and how I think scenes from the trailers indicate certain elements. Now you've been warned, let us begin...
