The Aegon Targaryen revelation wasn't enough of a kicker. Littlefinger's death wasn't enough of a kicker. Jaime's betrayal of Cersei wasn't enough of a kicker. HBO decided that what this season needed was a great big f*cking disaster movie finale with the Wall being destroyed by the Night King and Viserion (spitting blue fire like a boss) to set up a hell of a start to the next season.

Absolutely stunning it was too.

It was also quite terrifying, but at least fans could keep their heads enough to make some important political parallels.
