Supergirl is moving to The CW for Season 2, and she's bringing her famous cousin along with her.

Kara Zor-El's relative Kal-El, better known as Clark Kent who is better known as Superman, has been confirmed for the first two episodes of the second season, with Variety reporting that casting is underway.

The Man of Steel was a presence on the show during its first run, but never appeared properly. He was at first a shadowy figure, then a regular instant messaging correspondent of Kara, but his face wasn't shown.

The reasoning was that this was about Supergirl, not Superman, and his arrival could overshadow the main character. However, his presence merely hung in the background and caused some confusion, so now they're just having him actually turn up, with exec. producer Andrew Kreisberg saying:

"Greg [Berlanti[, Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!

Although Henry Cavill plays the character on the big-screen, this will mark the first TV portrayal since Smallville came to an end back in 2011, so it'll be interesting to see who gets the role (it probably won't be Tom Welling).

For Supergirl, it's just the latest piece of big news following the move to The CW, coming on the back of confirmation of a four-way crossover with Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.
