5. Is This The End Of Barbara And Jim Again?

While there was a lot of dialogue spoken during Pena Dura, one subject remained unspoken for the entire hour, and that was Jim and Barbara's kiss. In the previous episode, Ruin, Babs and Gordon joined forces in an attempt to locate the person responsible for Haven's demise. It was a bit like old times, as the former lovers worked alongside one another with a common goal. The GCPD captain gave into his darker side during Ruin on numerous occasions, and before the episode's end, he pulled his ex in for a passionate kiss.

In Pena Dura, however, there was no mention of the deed having taken place. Gordon was his old usual self, and Babs only appeared once - in a scene that served little purpose other than to benefit Ed's storyline. Therefore, it's unknown how far the pair's romantic interaction went, and if they lived to regret it afterwards.

It's a safe bet that this storyline will rear its head again in the future. What's more, if Barbara and Gordon did, in fact, sleep together, then perhaps the owner of the Sirens' club will have fallen pregnant with young Barbara (aka Batgirl) as a result. It's unlikely that these two will end up happily married like in the comics, so a one night stand would more than suffice to introduce Jim's iconic daughter into the Gotham universe.
