20 TV Shows That Failed To Stick The Landing
7. Dexter
Looking back, it's safe to say Dexter was never a show destined to maintain its quality over an eight-season run.
It's not exactly a surprise, then, that the serial killer drama started to tie itself in knots toward the end. In an attempt to keep viewers engaged with outlandish twists, all it really managed to do was alienate its audience and betray all its characters to unwanted bolts from the blue.
Where to start? For one thing, there was the general structure of the show, which as a procedural from the view of killer who kills killers (Michael C. Hall), became a bit stale after almost 100 episodes. For another, there was that final season, which allowed Dexter to get away for his crimes whilst his tormented sister died for his sins.
Dexter leaned into cruelty for its last stretch and failed to give audiences what they wanted - justice - and whilst its various spin-offs have allowed the franchise to feel fresh again, nothing can wipe away the stain of the original's fall from grace.
