20 TV Shows That Failed To Stick The Landing

4. Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is the best show and perhaps most popular show on this list, which is exactly why its half-baked final seasons were such colossal disappointments.

Based on the novels by George R. R. Martin, Game of Thrones had the world in a chokehold throughout its run, thanks in large part to its epic storytelling, compelling character work, and gritty drama.

Going into the final season, there were so many powerful storylines to unpack, but all of them fell victim to lazy writing and awful pacing issues. We see Dany (Emilia Clarke) fall to the dark side with minimal build-up, Cersei (Lena Heady) become a helpless victim despite years as the show's best antagonist, and everyone else lose their spark.

Jon (Kit Harrington) is tossed aside, the battle with the invincible White Walkers lasts no time at all despite seasons of build-up, and in the end everything is tidied away with almost laughable convenience. It felt like a different show than what it used to and given its highs, that's a serious tragedy.
