20 TV Shows That Failed To Stick The Landing
17. Under the Dome
Much like the Stephen King novel that gave it life, Under the Dome spent the vast majority of its three seasons as a jumbled, stuffy mess.
Which, of course, is a shame, because the main kernels of greatness its premise contains are seriously enticing. Concerning the fictional town of Chester's Mill, Maine, after it's inexplicably encased by a forcefield, Under the Dome offers a thrilling dive into the lives of people driven by desperation and shrouded by secrets.
It's typical King fare, and in some aspects it succeeds, especially where its effects are concerned. But thanks to its uninteresting characters and soap opera-like twists, it keeps tangling itself in subplots that carry little emotional weight.
And all that's without getting into how the central mystery turns out to be some kind of strange alien conspiracy that reverberates around the world. In what should have been a tightly wound tale of people torn apart and brought together by calamity, Under the Dome became far too concerned with the bigger picture.
