While it is certainly fun to watch the monster Hannibal the Cannibal butcher and devour his victims, watching psychiatrist and savant Hannibal Lecter roam freely is also entertaining. That's why the opening of season three will be such a good time. After the brutal events that closed last season, Hannibal and Bedelia have escaped to Florence, Italy. Dr. Lecter similarly resided there in both the film and the novel Hannibal. Based on his prior appearances there, fans of the series can look forward to once again seeing the Hannibal Lecter that no one suspects is a monster. With the FBI out of his way, Hannibal will be free to explore the cultural landmarks of Italy, watch some operas, and maybe even have a few friends for dinner. Early scenes this season will certainly feature Hannibal discussing the arts with people that have no idea what he is capable of. Scenes like those are often incredibly tense, and have helped make the show the critical success it is.
