Harry Potter TV Show: 13 Changes To The Originals They Should Make
13. Add More Diversity
By far the thing that has aged the worst about both the books and the films is the lack of diversity in the characters, which hardly feels believable considering that the series is set in 1990s Britain. The few non-white characters there are remain largely in the background, while there are no openly LGBT characters at all.
Now, let it be said immediately: no-one wants to see a hyper-woke adaptation that's more interested in shoving political messages down your throat instead of actually, you know, telling a good story.
At the same time, the series should definitely make efforts to increase the diversity within the story; this would go a long way in making the series feel more with the times, and given the current climate regarding the franchise's creator, it'd be pretty helpful for the series too.
