Hawkeye TV Show: 6 Things It Must Include
6. Small Scale Adventures
A big issue with superhero programs is they can make the stakes unreasonably large. There’s a sizeable chunk of unexplored events in Hawkeye’s backstory that show the value of the small-scale adventure, and the show could bring these to life.
Either through flashback or through building on his days as a SHIELD operative, the show doesn’t need the fate of the world to be in danger every episode. He’s previously mentioned a mission in Budapest, while his right-hand woman Black Widow was involved in a mission in a football stadium in Bogota. It doesn’t need to always be exotic locales that see Hawkeye channelling Carmen Sandiego. But using his sizeable skillset to take down more gritty, everyday foes to save everyday people certainly feels like it would engage audiences.
Marvel knows how to market too, and Hawkeye will be more than a show; it will be part of a universe. With the Black Widow solo movie rumoured to be a flashback, the success of a Hawkeye TV show focussed on similar style adventures would surely be a ticket seller for Romanoff too.
