I've already touched on the use of Sylar within the show, namely that he shouldn't be the villain again. However, what the show does need to come back strong is a villain who will knock the pants of every baddie before him. We need Heroes' take on Lex Luthor, The Joker or The Green Goblin; a villain that will push our heroes to their very limits. Arthur Petrelli and Samuel Sullivan were interesting baddies but never felt like the big league. Arthur was lost in the mess that was season three. Samuel was more successful, thanks in no part to the nuanced portrayal by Robert Knepper, but his story took far too long to really get going, something a thirteen-part mini-series can hopefully rectify. Some of the best superheroes have the best rogues gallery and Heroes needs this to succeed. Taking the leaf perhaps out of Christopher Nolan's 'realistic' take on Gotham City, Heroes could adopt its brand of real world versus super powers to give us something truly remarkable.
