Legion: 10 Reasons It's The Best Superhero TV Show Of All Time
10. A Timeless Feel
One of the key things to note about the setting of Legion is that, as of season one, it does not appear to be locked in any specific era. There are a few subtle context clues and plenty of room for speculation, sure, but it is never explicitly stated exactly when this show takes place
This is a good thing for a couple of reasons.
First of all, as stated in the title, it makes the show feel timeless. Most comic book shows and movies these days tend to rely on the trends, pop culture or politics of whatever time they take place in. And while this can be and has been used to great effect in other shows (and in the X-Men films, interestingly enough), it's very refreshing to see Legion forgo this way of doing things and instead focus on its own unique, self-sufficient world. This show's story feels like as though could be taking place several years ago, several years from now, or as we speak. Therefore, it's easy to connect with on a more fundamental level.
Moreover, by remaining timeless, Legion able to tell its unique story independently of the X-Men film universe's timeline: which, let's be honest, is a bit of an arbitrary mess at the moment (great films aside.)
It is for these reasons that Legion can not only be enjoyed now, but will likely continue to be enjoyed for years, possibly even decades to come.
