8. Who Kidnapped David And Why?

Let's start off with the last question posed by the season 1 finale. In a deliberately MCU-aping post-credits scene, David was hoovered up from his balcony at Summerland by a weird high-tech flying sphere. So what the hell is this thing and who's controlling it?

The trailers for season 2 have revealed that David eventually manages to escape the sphere - a year after the events of the finale. As he has no recollection of what happened to him in that time, his friends become suspicious of him, which could cause cracks within the Summerland gang.

Still, while this sheds a little light on the situation, we've yet to find out the purpose of his digital kidnapping. The obvious culprits would be Division 3, but we know that the anti-mutant organisation are currently allied with our heroes in order to catch the Shadow King.

So why would they get David out of the way when they need his help catching a bigger threat? Could this be the work of a mysterious third threat that's out there somewhere?
