Showrunner Cheo Coker has spoken of the influence of music on the series, with each episode named after a track and the season as a whole coming together like an album, and a big part of that will be Biggie Smalls.

Coker, a former music journalist, was friends with him, and the late musician is a big influence on the show's take on Cottonmouth.

That's expressly referred to when we get the above shot of Cottonmouth next to a poster of Biggie, which is a nice reveal of the one the below, which precedes it in the trailer, and frames Cottonmouth as the King (there's also something of a Wire vibe in that scene too).
