24. Mr Rigoletto & Kingpin's Origin

The Mr. Rigoletto referred to by Wesley alludes to Kingpin's predecessor in the comics, as well as a famous opera, whose tragic storyline hints at how Kingpin came to power.

In the comics, Kingpin was Rigoletto's bodyguard before he betrayed his boss and murdered him. His moral greyness was often brought up as a mirror for Daredevil's, which would explain why this version of Kingpin's origin has been used.

On the same theme, Kingpin then becoming a respected community figure also messes with the viewer's expectations of what is truly right.
