Marvel own the cinemas. That's a battle that has been won before it even had a chance to start. Their Distinguished Competition managed to put out some of the most critically acclaimed superhero movies of all time with Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, but that whole time Marvel were slowly piecing together a Shared Cinematic Universe that obliterated everything that stood in their way. Now Warner Bros are playing catch up, unveiling plans to go up against the juggernaut that is the Avengers franchise with their own Justice League and ensuing spin-off solo movies for their own stable of superheroes. Which seems a bit foolish, considering Marvel already have that market cornered. Doubly so when DC are kicking so much ass on the small screen, whilst Marvel seem very much ready to raise the white flag. The likes of Arrow and The Flash are reaching crazy wide audiences, whilst Agents Of SHIELD and Agent Carter flag in the ratings. Marvel has a secret weapon, however. They know the future hit TV shows aren't made on terrestrial television: it's all about streaming. Which is why they have four superhero series coming through that way later this year.
