Ms. Marvel: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Disney+ TV Series
10. Iman Vellani Is The MCU's Ms. Marvel
The big news, of course, is that unknown Canadian actress Iman Vellani has been cast as Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel. Her IMDb page isn't even 24 hours old, and the only credit on there is the Marvel Studios series, so Kevin Feige and company definitely picked a fresh face for the project.
According to Deadline, "The plan always was to stay true to the character in finding the right actress to play the role, even if it meant offering a person that was not well known to the public."
That's a ballsy move, but one which has paid off for studios in the past; just look at what a great find Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley was! Despite being new to acting, Vellani has been vocal in the industry, and was part of the "Next Wave Committee" at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival. There, she was among those tasked with adding a special tags to films the group believed would resonate with their peers.
Taking to her newly launched Instagram account, Vellani issued a brief statement, saying "Speechless and excited! Wish me luck."
