Four years on from the debut of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and two since Daredevil landed on Netflix, Marvel's TV branch is close to catching up with the movies.

Not just in terms of quality - where, in some cases, it's already its equal - but in terms of output. For instance, Marvel have three movies on the big screen this year; they have five TV shows. Next year the gap will widen further, with at least seven series likely to be on the air (and it could be more, and that's not even including the return of non-MCU Legion).

At the heart of all of this is the Netflix Marvel Universe, a dark and violent corner of the MCU that's set about crafting its own interconnected universe and team-up event.

Since launching with Daredevil in 2015, it's delivered some of the most critically acclaimed superhero action on a screen of any size, building towards this summer's The Defenders. While they've only released two shows a year in 2015 and 2016, that's set to change as, like the movies, they turn out three-a-year.

While word is quiet on the future of Iron Fist, though a renewal has been hinted at, there's a lot to look forward to: The Defenders is expected to be joined by a Punisher series later this year, and then Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage will all return. That's a lot to keep track of, and a lot you need to know about the future of the Netflix Marvel Universe.
