Based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was written and directed by Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton, Westworld takes place in a futuristic theme park where you can achieve all of your wants and desires, thanks to the robot staff there to serve you.

As the teaser trailer rather wonderfully shows off, they've got robot cowboys, gunfights, even hookers. No matter what your poison is, Westworld has it for you; that is, until there's a glitch in the system, and things start to go terribly wrong.

Although the series was hit with delays, with production shutting down, partial re-casting and re-writes ordered, it certainly looks impressive at the moment. Visually, there's a great Western feel to the show, from the sweeping landscapes to the little towns, and there's a creepy. dark tone with an air of mystery.

The cast is also great, with Sir Anthony Hopkins' Dr John Ford leading the way, the man behind the whole operation. Elsewhere, there's Ed Harris' robot gunslinger, Evan Rachel Wood's farmgirl-bot, and the rest of the cast is rounded out by Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, and a whole host of others.

Produced by J.J. Abrams, the series has been created by Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar, Person of Interest) and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice), and is one of the most exciting upcoming series at HBO. There's no specific release date yet, but the theme park will be opening its gates sometime in October. Until then, check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments,
