Orange Is The New Black: 5 Ups And 5 Downs From Season 3

By James Hunt /

2. Red And Healy - Down

Counsellor Healy is most downright unlikable character on the show at the moment. He€™s a misogynistic homophobe who feels like the women of Litchfield all owe him something, and treats them as such. There are explanations for this - we see his miserable childhood in flashback, while he has a wife who can€™t stand him - but none that really justify his actions. It was a worry this season, then, when he and Red struck up an unlikely bond. Would the show really be going down the route of having these two get together romantically? So far, thankfully not, but it was a possibility that hung throughout their interactions. Although it turned out Red was just using him - at least initially - to get back into the kitchen, there are still hints that it could become more than that. Healy allows his wife to leave at the end of the season - is this just because he€™s finally realised he cannot make her happy, or because he€™s found someone else? - and the two share a meaningful look during Morello€™s wedding. Just, no.
