Ozark Season 4: 12 Questions That Must Be Answered
12. Is Wendy Done Trying To Get Zeke Back?
Wendy's vow to get baby Zeke away from Darlene at the end of season two foreshadowed a tricky and possibly violent conflict to come between the two matriarchs. It was surprising that in the new season, Wendy appeared to have completely forgotten the idea until she was reminded of how scary Darlene was.
We never would have guessed that Wendy would use the legal system to try and acquire Zeke, albeit with a dirty tactic thrown in to make Darlene look more volatile. With Darlene still holding Zeke, and her use of vocabulary around him making us do a double-take and wonder if bad things are yet to come, it's safe to assume the battle for the baby isn't over yet.
It's clear the Byrdes feel guilty over making Zeke an orphan and handing him over to Darlene- or at least Wendy feels guilty. Maybe saving Zeke from a life of living on the Snell farm is one way for the Byrdes to convince themselves they're still the good people?
Or maybe getting Zeke back is just a way for Wendy to stick it to Darlene? After all, she did abduct and shave Jonah's head in a truly terrifying show of dominance.
