It's been a long wait between seasons, but Preacher is finally back on our screens and the third season premiere has set up what promises to be another great season for the AMC show.

Preacher is without a doubt the most tonally unique show on television and - if Angelville is anything to go by - it successfully continues its perfect blend of humour and drama into the third season. Angelville picks right up from where the Season 2 finale left off, following on from Tulip dying in Jesse's arms. But the preacher and his loyal vampire friend Cassidy refuse to give up, and they race to Jesse's hometown in one last-ditch attempt to save the girl that they're both in love with.

The premiere episode also introduced us to some new characters, and finally filled in some of the gaps in the narrative in regards to Jesse's traumatic and troublesome childhood. Understandably, the search for God subplot was not the focus of this episode, and it might continue to take a back seat moving forward, as Jesse seems to have landed himself in quite the predicament to save the love of his life. All in all, it was a solid - and very enjoyable - season premiere.

Welcome to Angelville.
