Non was the primary antagonist of Supergirl's debut outing. Though the show originally positioned the Girl of Steel's aunt, Astra, to be the main villain, that character was killed off surprisingly early - leaving her vengeful husband Non to carry on her mission.

Unfortunately, this would prove to be mistake as Non just wasn't that interesting. He was already pig-headed and revenge-driven before Astra's death, thus he didn't change following it. He had no redeeming qualities at all and was quite bland all-round. This would only get worse when he spent the second half of the season as nothing more than a glorified puppet for Indigo.

The show would have been far better off if Astra had remained the season's Big Bad. Wronged by her own sister on Krypton, she had genuine reasons for her behaviour, even if her methods were misguided. But most of all, she had heart and this made her much deeper than her husband ever was. As a supporting character Non was serviceable, but as a major villain he was, for lack of a better word, nondescript.
