More than just a statement about the show returning---the series will be set on the ship itself. Red Dwarf is returning at long last. And yes, many will correctly note that the ship returned in Series VIII, however, I will just as correctly point out that the ship itself was present in that series but the action in the episodes didnt take place on the ship, but rather was on the Prison level. Additionally, the ship itself is literally returning. From the teaser weve seen and statements released from production---a model is being used for all of the exterior ship shots. This decision in and of itself is a breath of fresh air to fans that were disappointed with the CGI animation that was considered sub-par in series VII and VIII as well as the remastered CGI shots for earlier seasons. The model, constructed in the nineties, was given a full refit and a week was spent in Shepperton studio; where the visual effects team filmed all the space bound shots for series X using models---which leads directly to the next item on the list as our excitement builds . . . .
