Rick And Morty: Every Season Four Episode Ranked Worst To Best

2. The Vat Of Acid Episode

The Vat Of Acid Episode, the eighth of the season and one that didn’t even have a proper title, was easily one of the strongest of the bunch. The dynamic between the arrogant, obnoxious Rick, and the undervalued sidekick Morty, was as strong as ever, as what made the show so popular in the first place.

After one of Rick’s ideas fell short of Morty’s expectations, the mad scientist finally listened to one of his grandson’s ideas, and built him a live-action save button.

The story itself was without question one of the best narratives of the entire season. It was smart, funny, and simply classic Rick and Morty. In particular, Morty’s entire arc from meeting his girlfriend to Jerry hitting the reset button was a masterpiece, not to mention devastating. The cherry on top was the wonderful poetic justice Morty had to suffer by using the vat of acid that started everything off in the first place.

The only complaint is that, once again, Rick voices his (and by extension Justin Roiland’s and Dan Harmon’s) disdain for time travel, explaining why he would never do it, despite fully utilising the tool just three episodes earlier in Rattlestar Ricklactica. However, this is a minor annoyance in an otherwise excellent episode.
