Ricky Gervais Says He Won't Host Golden Globes in 2013
"I've told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again".
"I've told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again".In the same blog post Gervais claims his latest hosting stint was "by far my favourite of the three" but compared the gig to like "a parachute jump. You can only really enjoy it in retrospect when you realise you didn't die and it was quite an amazing thing to do." Though speaking on Letterman last night his stance didn't seem so infinite. When asked if he was finished hosting the Globes, he replied "I think so, for now." The British Comedian has hosted the Globes for the past three years in a row, but sparked a media furor last year when his crude jokes were deemed offensive by some with one critic claiming he had "crossed lines of taste and civility", though for the most part not from the people in question. Johnny Depp, who the media said was upset by Gervais's comments last year, went on to appear on his recent sitcom Life's Too Short and then shared a moment with Gervais at this year's Globes. Many observers noted that Gervais was somewhat subdued this year and his jokes weren't as controversial this time around. Whether related or not, the viewing figures for the show were slightly down on last year, down 200,000 people from 17 million to 16.8 million this past Sunday night. How anyone follows Gervais, who now has become synonymous with the Globes, is a question that ceremony producer Dick Clark is mulling over right now.
