One of the many things The Simpsons is so famous for is it€™s ever differing opening sequence. The couch gag is one thing that changes but another thing is what Bart is writing on the blackboard in his classroom at Springfield Elementary. Often the message written over and over on the board is some sort of joke relevant to the times such as €˜Sherri does not €œgot back€€™.

On other occasions the blackboard is used to poke fun at the show itself, for example when Bart writes "I should not be 21 by now" €“ an obvious jibe aimed at the fact that The Simpsons has been on our screens for over two decades but no one has ever aged.

Another message which makes fun of the show is "I am not a 32 year old woman" which makes reference to the fact that Bart is voiced by a woman, Nancy Cartwright. Nancy €“ who also voices Nelson, Ralph Wiggum, Todd Flanders and Kearney €“ is now a 56 year old woman so this is very much a historical Easter Egg.
