Hank Scorpio took over a good chunk of the continental U.S. with Homer unwittingly helping him out on the way out of his organization in You Only Move Twice in season eight. It was the best job Homer ever had - unfortunately, moving just didn't work out for the rest of the Simpson family. And so, after an ever-so-brief period working for Scorpio, Homer returned home, and was given the "gift" of the Denver Broncos for his loyalty. The newspaper gag towards the end of the episode tells viewers that Scorpio is alive, well, and succeeding in his plans after they last saw him on-screen. Maybe Homer should have stuck with the company.
