10. He Tried To Give Tig Over To August Marks

One of the keys to making the Sons of Anarchy a successful club was trust. The men who wore the Reaper patches were brothers and had to be prepared to take a bullet for any one of their fellow members, knowing that they would do the same for them. Jax, however, violated this trust with Tig.

When Opie shot Clay as retribution for Piney's murder, the blame was placed on the Niners. Tig, feeling guilty for refusing to stay and protect his President at the time, immediately sought revenge. He tried to run over Laroy, the leader of the Niners, but instead killed his innocent girlfriend, Veronica Pope.

Her father just so happened to be Damon Pope, a big time gangster who demanded from Jax a dead Son for his own retribution. This would ultimately be Opie, who essentially died for Tig's brashness and short-sightedness. After Pope's death, August Marks demanded Tig's death, and Jax gave him the opportunity.

He sent Tig into a trap for Marks to collect and kill him, fully expecting to never see his brother again. Instead, this turned out to be more of a test of loyalty from Marks, and Tig was kept alive. It's understandable that Jax struggled to forgive Tig for indirectly causing Opie's death, but there were a lot of other factors that went into it. And trying to send him to his death, likely preceded by a round of torture, was pretty shocking.
