When Jax first sat down with District Attorney Patterson and promised her the truth of what happened to Tara, for a moment there it almost seemed as if he was going to confess to the crime himself and turn himself in. Instead, he actually did come completely clean, giving a recorded statement that his mother murdered his wife and where her body - along with Wayne Unser's - could be found. Patterson and Teller seemed to share a begrudging respect for each other and he came clean as a means of getting her to drop the investigation and hopefully get her off the club's back. He assured her that by the end of the day, the violence in Oakland would come to an end. Patterson acknowledged that she could tell Jax struggled with his position in the world, and they parted with the prophetic quote from the MC president that at the end of the day, the bad guys lose.
