With only three episodes of season three under its belt, Star Trek: Discovery has officially entered production on its fourth season at Pinewood Toronto Studios.

The news came from various cast and production members on social media, including Doug Jones (newly-minted Captain Saru) who shared his preparations to return to the role (aka shaving his head) on Twitter. Also on Twitter, showrunner Michelle Paradise announced the start of production by praising the cast and crew for their efforts in prepping the new season in the midst the global COVID-19 pandemic.

While we have scant few details to report on the upcoming fourth season, executive producer Alex Kurtzman recently shared with IndieWire that Star Trek: Discovery (and other Star Trek Universe series) would be using an AR wall similar to the one used in the production of Disney's The Mandalorian. This new filmmaking technology uses digitally created sets which are projected onto screens behind the actors to simulate location photography, useful in limiting the cast and crew's need to travel during the pandemic.

Star Trek: Discovery is currently streaming exclusively in the US on CBS All Access, airs in Canada on Bell Media's CTV Sci-Fi Channel, streams in Canada on Crave, and streams internationally on Netflix.
