6. Data The Painter

During Picard's second dream, he encounters a visage of Data creating a painting, as turns out to be a major plot point in the second half of the episode.

At the time, though, it seems like a pretty harmless reference to Data's love of the arts in The Next Generation, despite being an android and therefore arguably lacking the human inspiration necessary to create a truly unique piece of art.

Nevertheless, he does create a number of memorable paintings over the course of the show, and if nothing else, opens a thought-provoking debate about the very creation of art itself.
