Whilst Star Trek fans are waiting patiently for Netflix's decision on Star Trek: Prodigy, there is some intriguing news that just might tide us over. "That’s right, cadets — #StarTrekProdigy is getting its own theme park attraction!" Star Trek: Prodigy writer/executive producer Aaron J. Waltke posted to Twitter before September ended. You'll need to get your tickets booked for Türkiye!

For Antalya, more precisely, and the 'Land of Legends' theme park. Don't go before 15 January 2025, however, if you want the Star Trek bit, as that's the current date for the opening of 'Nickelodeon Land' there. A first for the Paramount-owned channel in Türkiye, 'Nickelodeon Land' is set to feature the Star Trek: Wild Galaxy attraction, "with the return of your favorite ragtag Protostar crew on a brand new adventure," in Waltke’s words once more. You will also be able to pay a visit to SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom, and impersonate a member of the emergency services in Adventure Bay Paw Patrol.

Wild Galaxy centres on a "5D cinema" experience — a shuttle ride through "an epic space journey". You should "Listen carefully to Dal and Gwyn's conversation, because you don't want to miss any of the planets," the Land Of Legends description goes on to add. I'm not entirely sure what '5D' involves, though it is fittingly very Captain Proton. And by the pre-vis images, the whole thing does look quite good.

Before climbing aboard, visitors will walk through the Lobby to be greeted by what looks like one of those 'laplings' from The Most Toys. After that, there's the Exhibition room of the 'Aurora' — the name of the ship, we assume — followed by the Biodome Room, a kind of exobiology "museum of the Star Trek universe". Finally, visitors will step into the Airlock (pre-show), where they will "meet Dal and his friends from the USS Protostar" whilst examining "spacesuits, weapons and vehicles".

Back at the on-site Nickelodeon Hotel, you can also book into the 'Star Trek Iconic Suite' with Wild Galaxy theme. At 245m², with two bedrooms, one living room, and a games room, the suite is significantly larger than most people's homes, so you'll probably have to re-mortgage your soul to afford it!

A considerable amount of money and effort has clearly been invested into all this. It is also more Prodigy in and of itself, which can only be a good thing. One might equally pause to ask why Paramount didn't continue the same level of commitment with the series. Star Trek's not new to this kind of officially licensed venture either. In the past, we've had Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas, and we currently have Star Trek: The Cruise. Comparisons will inevitably be drawn also to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, hopefully not on the price point.

It has been 91 days (at time of writing) since the second season of Prodigy was released on Netflix. Fan and critical reaction was overwhelmingly brighter than a proto-core, the indefatigable Michele Stokes organised another banner plane, and SetACourseForSeason Three has been hash-tagged far and wide.

Yet, the streaming giant is seemingly still crunching the numbers for any renewal. Perhaps this theme park attraction is precisely the renewed hope we need.
