Star Wars: First Look At The Mandalorian Revealed; Taika Waititi & More To Direct
Production is underway on the live-action Star Wars TV show.
Following on from Jon Favreau revealing the title and synopsis of his live-action Star Wars TV show, Lucasfilm have now confirmed that production is officially underway, with a list of directors to go with it.
The Mandalorian, which is being written by Favreau, will have a total of five directors, including The Clone Wars and Rebels vet Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), and, most excitingly, Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
It's expected there'll be eight episodes in the first season, although this remains unconfirmed, with Filoni slated to direct the first instalment. It's an interesting range of directors, with a mix of established TV talent, acclaimed indie directors, and Dallas Howard - daughter of Solo director Ron - whose work as a director is made-up of a couple of shorts and music videos.
Waititi is the big one though, given how great his filmography is so far, and it'll be fascinating to see him bring his style to the Star Wars galaxy.
Alongside the directors, Lucasfilm also revealed the first image of the titular Mandalorian (above), who'll be a lone gunslinger in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far away from the New Republic. As is the case with all Mandalorian armour, his looks suitably badass.
